9 months old today

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Today Lachie turned 9 months old, and there is progress aplenty.

Let me dig out that old list of numbers and show you the updated ones.

Seems the website missed the 7 month figures, so they are
Weight: 7215g (up another whopper 1325g)
Length: 65cm (up 2.7cm)
Head Circumference: Not sure

So these are the 9 month figures, (see About Me for the full history)

Weight: 8130g (up 915g)
Length: 70.5cm (up 5.5cm)
Head Circumference: 44cm (up 3cm from 5mths)

Just turn the time back 4 months (5 months old today) and look at what he was at 5 months. From a baby to a real little dude.

The health nurses now say that we should use his birth age when looking at development and progressions measurements, up until now we were using the adjusted age, which would have seen him at 7.5months today.  This means he is right on track with any normal kid now.  The pediatrician said he had caught up his development months ago, but the more cautious health nurses have waited until this month to give him the all clear.

Almost forgot: Oh and on an important note, Lachie sat up with dad last week (well at least til 1/4 time) to watch the Pies crush the Cats and break their unbeaten streak.  Lets hope he’s awake on Saturday so he can see them destroy the Eagles.

Its crawling time

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

So the time has come, and Lachie is now unable to resist the lure of the toy thats just over there. He’s now got the ability to motor under his own steam.

Although it does take a while and sometimes he reverts to going backwards, but there is now definite movement.

Whos the little big man

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

I guess we don’t really see it, but time moves and Lachie keeps getting bigger.  These photos are proof of how much of a little man he is getting.

Still no forward crawling, but thats not stopping him from getting around, with all the sideways rolling and backward movement he can find.

We all clap hands together

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Tonight Lachie decided it was time to clap his hands.  Not just in a random swinging of them motion, but a serious effort to put them together.  Mum has been clapping to him for the last few weeks, when singing or when some sort of music is on, and while he has shown some interest in the noise, he’s never interacted himself.

But that all changed tonight, he was lying on his back looking over his shoulder at the TV when he started hitting his hands together, it wasn’t in time with anything but he was having fun with the little clapping noises he made.

I thought this was all just playing around, and not serious clapping, until about 15 mins later mum did some clapping to him, and he joined in.  How cool is that?

Grandpa comes to visit

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

We were lucky enough today to get a visit from grandpa that coincided with Lachie due to wake up, so he was in his best form.  It did take a few mins for him to completly wake up, but once he did he had great fun.

He spent most of the time with his grandpa, and was lucky enough to get some new clothes.

Things around here have been hectic again, but at least we get a short break this weekend.  We were all over the shop last week. From Oak Park for the Zammits baby shower, to Warrendyte for Lisa’s 40th, then just a lazy sunday trip up to Wallan for Nicola’s birthday lunch.

We’ve still got Ash’s birthday on the cards, and then hopefully its a bit quieter until later in the year when we get into the heart of birthday season.

How much of a little man do we have now?  He’s so close to crawling its not funny.  Right up on the knees and has actually moved forward a couple of times, but I’m not sure if thats due to the fact he fell forward or was trying to do it.  But not long now and eveything’s gonna have to me moved out of reach.

Nearly crawling

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Lachie is now up on his knees and rocking back and forward.  From what we hear this is the prelude to unleashing the beast.  Or at least not being able to put him down and expect him to be there seconds later.

He’s nevery really looked like even wanting to crawl, he’s happy to roll around to get to things, which causes him to bang his head on things and get himself stuck up agains the playpen or his cot, etc.  But now he seems to be preparing for the next stage of evolution, and its not one that we are in any hurry for him to reach.  I guess once he’s mobile he can amuse himself a bit more, if theres a toy out of reach he won’t bash his head falling over to try and get it, or just sit there crying for it..  At least he can make the effort himself to go get it.

But once he can move it will be a whole new world.

Who knows, all this might be for naught and he might just enjoy being carried around, and rolling over to get what he wants..  We can only hope. :)
